In the following text we have tried to compile what applies to the handling of p
yrotechnic devices.

All vehicles must be recycled in Europe, all countries have laws regarding this and everyone of them stipulates that airbags and other PD must to be neutralized before shredding and material recycling can take place.

PD is classified as hazardous waste and are very harmful to people, animals and nature if not handled properly during the recycling process. Although when pyrotechnic
devices is neutralized it does not present any danger and itīs no longer hazardous waste and can be handled as any other material.

The following can often be found regarding the definition of what PD is:
All components of both light and heavy vehicles, which contain some type of explosive substance is classified as PD.
Examples of such components are: driver airbags, passenger airbags, seat belt pretensioner, curtain airbags, knee airbags, hip airbags, side airbags, seat cushion airbags, seat belt airbags, active headrests, battery safety terminals, pedestrian airbags, different types of pyrotechnic protection of vulnerable road users, pop-up roll bars, etc.
